The 13.2-mile stretch of Route 66 in Kansas offers a high density of historic sites, mining history, and Cars movie inspiration between Galena, Riverton, and Baxter Springs. Key stops include the Cars on the Route truck, the Rainbow Bridge, the Old Riverton Store, and the Baxter Springs Heritage Center. Lots of Americana sites

- Connects Missouri → Kansas → Oklahoma
- Passes through just three towns: Galena, Riverton, and Baxter Springs
- Riverton (Old Riverton Store): Operating since 1925
- Rainbow Bridge (Riverton/Baxter Springs): Built in 1923, this is the last remaining Marsh Arch bridge
- Baxter Springs (Heritage Center & Museum)
It is a brief time capsule of old Route 66, with a strong small-town, vintage vibe.

Our immediate thoughts on Route 66 through Kansas
Good things
You can only do so much research before you set out on a journey like travelling the entirety of Route 66. We are setting out with a list of things we want to see, but much of the success of these things is the opportunity to trip over some great surprises, and hopefully they are good surprises.
Not so good things
Every trip has some things that don't go as anticipated, and some of those are things that you really can't change - we will no doubt encounter some of those, and will leave a note on this site of what those were.
